This is an early reminder to all Clubs that The Closing Date for Player Registrations is 5pm on Thursday 1st March 2007. This applies to all player Registrations and transfer of Registrations. All applications after that date will be declined or will be approved subject to such limitations as The Board may determine and, if so determined, the player shall only be eligible to play in the matches for which permission is granted by The Board. Clubs with a goalkeeper crisis and other similar reasons will be allowed, all others will be declined for obvious reasons.
I thank the Club that put out a recent Press Report requesting that The Sydenhams Football League should give The Registration Secretary more help. The only help that I require is that all Club Secretaries ensure that they check all of their players that they register thoroughly in the pre season suspension book and lists throughout the season. This may mean checking about 30 names before the season starts. If the player is a new signing then if in doubt you ring Hampshire FA first. Never take the players’ word regarding suspensions as they have been known to be wrong in the past. I can always be contacted if you have a problem. I have two land lines and a mobile Tel No. in the book. We have some 3,200 players registered in The Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) and it is difficult to keep a check on all players names. I do feel sympathy with the clubs that fall foul of the suspension lists, but in some cases these clubs have only 17 to 18 players names to check in August. Not really an onerous task to check so few. The League Officers are all volunteers and most of us are still employed so we need as much help as you can give us in your capacity as club secretaries and chairmen. So if in doubt find out at Hampshire FA or through the writer.
