Headley United v Colden Common
Common paid for a lacklustre first period in which the hosts,
an excellent footballing team if allowed to play,
netted twice and saw a penalty excellently saved
by Jamie Flood in the Common goal.
Following a first win in many the previous week during which
Danny's boys produced a vibrant performance,
another 'straight-from-the-off' display was anticipated.
Unfortunately ...torpor was predominant.
Danny and Ryan can rightly feel aggrieved following a second half display
that deserved at least four goals but, similarly, they must be frustrated
that we cannot, week-on-week, produce a consistently good 90-minute display.
After the break however, Common were of a different mindset
- in fact the mindset we expected from the start
- and Team Solent, having looked so comfortable and classy in the first 45,
were visibly rattled. Continuous pressure created Common chances
but all were 'wasted', courtesy of a poor finish, fine save or choosing
a wrong option. So, the hosts found a third in the dying seconds and Common
were on the wrong end of a league 'double'.
Leading Scorer OLLIE FORBES (26 goals from 26 apps)
- wins the ball but on this occasion was off target.
